 Periodic Table of Parrots 22" x 28" The author has had a number of parrots as pet birds, from wily and feisty Amazons and African Grays, through coquettish and demanding Moluccan and Dwarf Cockatoos, to majestic and imperious Blue & Gold- and Greenwing Macaws. These modern descendents from the dinosaurs have always mesmerized him. This was the first poster in this series that he developed (while waiting and very eager to retire from his government job). The artist compiled a complete list of the world’s parrots, and then matched the chemical symbols to some aspect of each bird’s common or Latin name. The pictures were largely gleaned from the Internet, along with their pertinent information, and the resulting collage provides quite a display of form, size and especially color. There are verbal and visual puns, and a few inside jokes. |
